A 200 mile journey for CAF

One year ago, I became an Ironman, completing the biggest physical journey I have endured to date.  It was an amazing experience; knowing that my family was at the finish line to welcome me “home” but also because I was racing for a greater purpose – to raise funds for the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF).  This year, instead of an Ironman, I am cycling 216 miles over 2-days (yes that’s 108 miles a day) for CAF and am once again asking for your help.

As you (hopefully) know, CAF funds adaptive equipment, coaching, and other essentials to people with a physical disability so that they can compete in whatever sport they choose.  The barriers to become active are tremendous for those with a physical disability as items such as running legs and racing wheelchairs are not covered by insurance.   CAF believes that involvement in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances an individual’s quality of life.  CAF makes sports accessible to a whole generation of people who want to actively participate in life.  They are my inspiration and why I keep pushing myself to compete outside my comfort zone; the Ironman was one of these challenges and so is this bike ride.

CAF changes lives.  Period.  So, I am asking for your support in making the ride about changing someone’s life.   Please click here to make a donation.  While any amount is appreciated, you can also “sponsor” a portion of my ride.  For example, your donation can be $108 (miles a day), $216 (miles in total), a partial day ($54), the highest elevation we climb ($700), or just make a number up.

Visit my blog which will be updated during certain milestones between now and the ride (and the nights after on the ride).

As always, I appreciate the support,

Justin
